Overall, the number of students enrolled at Bristol University sharply raised throughout the decades, as well as the percentage of international students from all over the world.
As for the percentage of students coming from the Bristol area (that is within 30 miles from the city), it dramatically decreased from 50% in 1928 to a mere 1-2 % in 2008, with the most remarkable drop in the thirty years from 1928 to 1958, when it went down to 14% losing 36%.
Regarding the percentage of males and females enrolled, the figures of both sexes fluctuated over the given period. However, as opposed to the percentage of males which was the highest in 1928 and 1958 at 58% and 68& respectively, in 2008 the percentage of the females increased by 22% from 1958, peaking at 54%. Consequently, the females were the majority for the first time.
