The chart and table below give information about population figures in Japan.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart and the table represents the population of Japan from 1950 to 2055. They represent the data in millions and the chart in percentage as well.

The given data has focus its information pertaining to people aged 65 years or over. The population seems to increase and decrease in the given data.

Firstly, the historic data in the graph is from 1950 which was at 84.1 millions. Following which the population seemed to gradually increase to 127.8 millions in 2005. However, there is a slow decrease until 2015 to 125.4 million. The projection predicts a drastic decrease in the population in 2035 and 2055, with population of 110 and 89.9 millions respectively.

Secondly the chart represents data for 1950, 2005, 2035 and 2055 years. The age group focused here pertains to 65 and above. Furthermore, a percentage compares such old people with other population with respective years. In 2055 though the population is expected to come down, percentage of old people will rise to 41% which is concerning.
