The line graph compares the figures for England and Wales in term of 3 types of crimes: car theft, house burglary and street robbery between 1970 and 2015.

It is noticeable that the proportions of car theft and house burglary rose considerably while that of street robbery remained relatively unchanged over the period of 30 years. It is also clear that car theft had by far the highest figure through out the years.

In 1970, 0.3 percent of car thefts happened in England and Wales, compared to only around 0.1 and 0.3 of street robbery and house burglary respectively. Over the following 15 years, car theft increase to reach the peak of 1.4 percent. Similar change can be seen in the figure for house burglary which increased to 0.5 percent. Meanwhile, the figure for street robbery fluctuated around 0.1 percent.

A dramatic decrease in car theft was seen in the end of the 30-year period at about 0.8 percent. Similar tendency, but to lower extents, was seen in the figure for house burglary, which increased to 0.4 percent. In contrast, there was no significant changes in the trend for street robbery over the period as a whole.
