The bar chart compares the number of leisure hours that females and males spent on a particular week between 1998 to 1999, as a function of employment status. Five different employment levels are shown: full-time, part-time, unemployed, retired, and housewives status.
Overall, there was no data provided for the part-time employed and house-staying men. Additionally, the men had more leisure time than women in the three remaining categories.
In terms of employed full-time level, around half of total hours enjoyed by men, slightly higher than an estimated 37 hours for women. By contrast, women spent roughly two-fifth of hours per week on employed part-time jobs compared to no figure for their opposite counterparts.
In the unemployed and retired categories, the number of hours women and men spent in their free time accounted for the largest numbers, at 78% and 83% respectively. Household chores constituted about 55 hours for women’s leisure time while the same status took up no proportion for males.
