The given chart provides information on changes in crime incidence in downtown of New Port during a decade between 2003 and 2012.
There was a fluctuation in the number of incidence in the types of crimes committed in the city throughout the period. Initially, in 2003, the most widespread type of crime was burglary with nearly 3500 incidents, while car theft was at 2800 and robbery was at 600. In 2004, there was an increase in all three types of crimes; this figure rocketed to 3700 incidents for burglary, and the number of incidence in car theft and robbery rose slightly to 2850 and 700, respectively. Nevertheless, the number of incidents in burglary started decreasing after reaching its peak in 2004, and slumped to 1100 by 2008, then it leveled off at the level of 1500. In the meantime, car hijacking became the most common type of crime committed in the downtown in 2007, and it lasted till the end of the period. In contrast, robbery showed a minor fluctuation reaching a peak of 900 incidents in 2005, then gradually decreasing to 500 in 2008, and again increasing to 600 in 2013.
The infographic indicates that New Port police dealt with burglary well decreasing this figure substantially during the period of time; however, car theft failed to show any improvements.
