The chart below shows the changes that took place in three different areas of crime in New Port city center from 2003-2012.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph gives information on the variations experienced by three different kind of crimes that took place between 2003 and 2012 in the central area of the city of Newport.

Overall, the number of burglaries has significantly dropped over the years, while the tolls of both car thefts and robberies have remained stable, experiencing only minimal fluctuations compared to the former trend.

In the first year reported in the graph the most common crime was burglary, with a total of 3500 incidents in 365 days. In the following year, this number experienced a slight increase of approximately 250 units to reach a peak at the start of 2004, when it reached the highest value of the chart. After that, it dropped steadily until 2007 when it leveled up at around 1500 cases per year. As a consequence, starting on the second half of 2006 the dominance of burglaries was replaced by car thefts, which were the dominant accidents until 2012.

By contrast, the trends of car thefts and robberies have not changed as significantly. In particular, the former had, on average, 2200 cases, the latter was centered in 600 and their wider variations were of 600 and 400 units, respectively.
