The bar chart compares the rate of five different types of post-school qualification in Australia according to males and females during 1999.
It is clear that a much higher proportion of men had a skilled vocational diploma in comparison with women in this country. Additionally, the rate of males gaining an undergraduate diploma and bachelor’s degree was lower than female’s figure.
The percentage of men achieving a skilled vocational diploma was highest, at over 90%, while the figure for women was significantly lower, at nearly 10%. The gap of postgraduate diploma between two genders was less dramatic, men’s figure accounted for 70%, compared to 30% of women. Moreover, 60% and 40% of master degree were gained by male people and female citizens respectively.
In contrast, more than 70% of people having an undergraduate diploma were women, whereas 40% of them were men. In addition, there was a small gap of people who achieved a bachelor’s degree. The figures for men and women stood at around 45% and 55% respectively.
