The chart below shows estimated world illiteracy rates by region and by gender for the year 2000.
The tabular chart demonstrates the data of those Male and female who were illiterate in the given different six regions in a particular year 2000. And the data is calibrated in percentage.
It is evident that the literacy rate was wrost in South Asia,because there was the highest proportion of illiteracy. And the male's illustration rate was 30% which was 22% less than the female's illiteracy.And this trend was followed by the Arab States where the figure was slight less than the South Asia. With regards to developed countries, by having less than 1% of both male and female, this area lied on the least position.
Moving further, in terms of Latin America, an equal proportion was recorded in both gender which was 10%. In comparison to male ,female illiteracy rate was double in East Asia which was 20%. And in case of Subsaharan American ,the males, who were not able to read and write, was 3o% which were 10% lower than the female proportion.
Overall, it is clear that amongest all continents, female's illiteracy rate was higher in comparison to male.
