The bar chart compares the number of people classified into six age categories visited to hospital emergency car departments in Northern Ireland in terms of december 2016 and december 2017.
It is clear that the elderly people and youngest people were the most frequent visitors to A&E (accident and emergency). There was a slightly upward trend in the percentage of emergency care attendences among all six age groups from december 2016 to 2017.
Looking first at the chart's the oldest people, the number went up by approximately 4,000 people from 64,000 to 68,000 one year later. Interestingly, those age 65-74 were less than half likely to require emergency treatment, with around 30,000 in both months. As can be seen from the given information between 16 and 44 years old or between 45 and 64 years old whom nearly 30,000 people visited to in the both period shown.
At the other end of the age scale, the figure for A&E visitors by under-5s was a mild growth of just 2,000 from 52,000 to 54,000 whereas those age 5-15 were nearly two-fifths over the one-year period.
