The chart below shows global sales of the top five mobile phone brands between 2009 and 2013.

The vertical bar chart presents information about the total number is mobile phones of five brands sold throughout the world during 2009, 2011 and 2013.

It is evident that while the sale of Samsung and Apple phones has increased tremendously during these years, the share of Nokia in global sales has shrunk sharply. Samsung increased its worldwide sales from 240 million units in 2009 to 450 million units in 2013. During these four years, Apple’s cell phone sales increased over eight times from 20 million units to 160 million units.

On the other hand, Nokia, which was the leader of the international cell phone market, witnessed slip in its sales from 440 million in 2009 to just 250 million. The company, despite the sharp fall in sales, retained the second position in the global phone market.

LG lost share from about 120 million units to about 80 million units during this period. ZTE gradually increased mobile phone sales from about 50 million to 60 million.
