The chart below shows global sales of the top five mobile phone brands between 2009 and 2013.
The graph compares the sales of mobile phone in terms of five different manufacturers in three different years 2009, 2011, and 2013.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the sales rate for Samsung and Nokia were the highest among the other brands in all three particular years. Whereas the lowest number of mobile phone sold out was ZTE (except for the year of 2009).
In 2009, Samsung sold out approximately 235 million units, where the figure for Nokia was significantly higher with almost 450 million units, almost doubled the Samsung’s sales rate. Apple sold out the least with only about 20 million units. In 2011, Nokia still kept the record as the highest sales of the year compared to other brands, which was above 400 millions, but was a decline compared to its own brand. Similar to 2009, the figure for Samsung increased their sales, which exceeded 300 million units.
Throughout three years, Nokia and LG were the only manufacturers that had their sales decreased, in which gradually for LG and significantly for Nokia between the year of 2011 and 2014, from around 410 million units to approximately 250 million units respectively. Although ZTE was one of the growing companies, it had the slowest sales rate, where less than 10 million units were sold in three years.
