The bar graph illustrates the percentage of household that is owned and rented in England and Wales from year 1918 to year 2011.
Overall, the number of rented accommodation decreases throughout the year whereas the figure for owned houses increases from year 1918 to year 2011. Both figures reached the same number of households in year 1971 at fifty percent.
To begin with, renting a house is at its peak during 1918 where about 78% of the people just rent accommodation. The number slightly dropped at about 68% in year 1939 and remained stable until 1953. The figure gradually decreases in 1961 to around 59% to approximately 31% in year 2001 and increased again at its final point in 2011 at about 38%.
The percentage of people, on the other hand, who owned a house is at its lowest point in 1918 at around 22%. T/he number increased a little bit to about 31% from year 1939 to 1953 then it rose steadily reaching its highest point in year 2001 which is approximately 79%. Finally, the figure decreased in year 2011 at about 65%.
