The chart illustrates the ratios between male and female teachers from different types of educational settings in the UK in 2010
Overall, women teachers have greater quantity than men. In a college, the number of male and female teachers is equivalent. As we move towards the higher education, there are considerable differences in both genders’ rates
Women predominated over men in schools for children. Over 95 per cent of nursery school teachers were female. This situation was similarity in primary school, where over 90 per cent of female teachers.
Men and women were equally represented in teaching institutions for older children and young adults: secondary schools and colleges. College lecturers were 50 per cent female and 50 percent male
In universities and private training institute, men held a large numbers of positions. This was particularly true for universities, where twice as many males were teaching as female.
In general, women were more likely to hold the role of teaching young children. On the other hand, men tended to teach at higher education institutions.
