The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The above bar chart interprets the number of time taken for telephone calls in the UK, by considering 3 main categories such as, local, national and international as well as mobiles for a period of 7 years starting from 1995.
Having analysed the given data, it can be seen that the local fixed line call time remains the highest throughout the period of the survey. Although, it showed an increasing trend until 1999 with a peak amount of 91 billion, it is now showing a decreasing trend. When it comes to other categories, they remain below the local calls. However, show an upward trend. National and international has a slow increase ranging from 40 to 60 billion over the period of time, whereas, mobile usage shows a drastic up from 1995 to 2002 and the amount was approximately 3 billion in 1999 and 42 billion in 2002.
In conclusion, mobile usage has evolved throughout 7 years’ time with the technology improvement. But, still people have not entirely moved into mobile usage from fixed line. However, there will be a forecast future trend towards national and international fixed line and mobile usage, in contrast, local fixed line usage is dropping year by year from 1999.
