Overall, it is noticeable that the proportion of overweight Australian males by far higher during the whole period. In addition, the percentage of obese males experienced a more significant change.
In 1980, the percentage of overweight men was about 47% of the total men in Australia, whereas obese women only occupied 30% of Australian females. In 2000, the proportion of males had obesity hit the highest point, at 70%. In the same year, the figure for overweight females reached a peak, at 50%.
In 2010, Australia witnessed a slight decrease to about 69% in the percentage of overweight men. At the same time, the figure for Australian obese females remained unchanged, at 50%.
