The chart shows the average life expectancy for males and females in 1900, 1950 and 1990
The table compares the average life span for the genders from five different countries in three separate time periods. At first glance, it is obvious that the median number of years which people lived increased from 1900 to 1990 and women generally lived l than men.
By 1900 the average life expectancy in five countries was low. There are a gradual difference in the life span; Australian life span was the lowest with 37.8 for males and 39.9 for females, while the figures for Sweden was the highest in both men and women, at 52.8 and 55.3 respectively.
In 1950, there was a rapid growth in the life expectancy. The number of years people from five countries lived fluctuated between 62 and just over 70.
By 1990, both males and females of all countries lived the longest of three time periods. The country that had the longest life span was still Sweden and Danish had the lowest life span, while the average life expectancy from the rest of countries were approximately 73 for males and 80 for females.
