The chart below shows the total number of Olympic medals won by twelve different countries
The bar chart illustrates the number of medals that twelve countries achieved at the Olympic Games. At first glance, it is evident that the total number of medals won by the USA is the highest of the twelve areas, while the figures for China are the lowest.
The USA obtained around 2300 Olympic medals, including approximately 900 gold medals, 750 silver and 650 bronze. The second most successful country is Soviet Union that has less than a half in the total number of medals won by the USA, at 1000 medals. The UK, France, Germany and Italy gained more than 500 Olympic medals and each type of medals has similar statistics.
The rest of the countries achieved just under 500 medals. Sweden and Hungary have the similar number of each medal, at approximately 450 medals. The number of medals gained by China is the lowest with about 200 gold medals and 200 medals for silver and bronze.
