The bar chart compares the amount of time each gender spend for household tasks on a daily basis in Great Britain.
It is clear that females spent most of their time on cooking, baking and washing up. In contrast, Gardening and pet care activities are preferred by males.
74 minutes is spent for cooking, baking and washing by women as opposed to only 30 minutes of men and the figure for females’ time for cleaning and house tidying is over four times higher than that for males, which is 58 minutes. In terms of childcare, males spent 20 minutes per day which is twice less than females. The same goes for Clothes, washing, ironing and sewing, the amount of time spent for these activities by women was 25 minutes compared to only 2 minutes of men.
However, the amount of time consumed by females is much lower than males, which is 13 and 58 minutes respectively. Additionally, Males ‘consumption of time for maintenance odd jobs is 26 minutes, nearly three times higher than females’ (9.5).
