Overall , the percentages of households that owned electrical appliances went up during the given period, with that of refrigerators having the most noticeable rise. Meanwhile, there was a reverse pattern seen in the time spent on doing housework.
In 1920, the rate of households having a refrigerator appeared to be the lowest among other appliances, at about 2%. But in the following 40 years of the given period, it had a dramatic jump to 100% and remained this number until the final year. the Percentage of households owning a Washing machine was at its highest point in 1920, but then this figure just saw a small fluctuation throughout time and stop at the rate of around 70%. About the percentage of Vacuum cleaner, an gradual growth of 70% was witnessed in this number in the same period.
at the beginning of the period, it took each households 50 hours per week to do housework, by 1960 this number had fallen by 40 hours , it continued declining and then touch the lowest point at 10 in 2019.
