Essay topics:

The charts below show the changes in ownership of electrical appliances and the amount of time spent doing housework in households in one country between 1920 and 2019.

The charts show the percentage of possession of electrical appliances and the changes in the number of hours each week spent on finishing household chores from 1920 to 2019 in a particular country.

It can be seen from the first graph that 3 items underwent an upward trend. The washing machines were initially prioritized as 40% of households owned. Having fluctuated between 1940 and 2000, this device was finally used by 70% of households but it lasted by being the least. Before reaching their peaks at 100%, refrigerators and vacuum cleaners had a significant increase. Fridges were originally unappealing until 1940, their proportion of ownership rocketed to approximately 55% and continued to go up and be stabilized at 100% from 1980 to 2019. Unlike the fridges, having started at 30%, vacuum cleaners witnessed a gradual rise in percentage by 20% per 20 years before slightly climbing to 100% in both 2000 and 2019.

The second graph illustrates a remarkable downward trend in the amount of time spent per week on household activities. In 1920, a housewife usually took 50 hours every week to accomplish housework. Nevertheless, this routine progressively faded as less time was used on household chores. In 1980 and 2000, only about 15 hours per week were distributed before decreasing to only above 10 hours in 2019.
