Overall, the Japanese travelers had an upward trend over a period of 10 years and the figure for visitors from the Japanese in Australia increased steadily, though there was a slight fluctuation in the middle of the period.

We can see from the bar chart that the 1985-1990 period witnessed a significant rise from 4 million to 11 million in the number of Japanese tourists going to foreign countries. Then it minimally declined to 10,5 million in 1991. After a year later, this figure increased by 2 million and remained steady until 1993. The percentage of Japanese travelers rose continually and hit a peak of over 15 million from 1993 to 1995.

For the line chart, the proportion of the Japanese visiting Australia increased gradually and reached almost 5% after 4 years beginning in 1985 before witnessing a slow drop by 1% from 1988 to 1989. Then it increased rapidly again and peaked at 6,2% of Australia's share in 1993. 2 years later, there was a slight fall from 6,2% to 6% in the rate of the Japanese coming to Australia.
