The pie chart illustrates several reasons why people use two different modes of transport, bicycle or car, for their commute to work.
Overall, most people go to work via bicycle because it avoids causing pollution, and also due to health and fitness reasons. The least amount of people cycle because it's quicker than driving. Those who enjoy driving mostly do it for comfort, while the minority state it's because it's safer than cycling.
Less pollution and health/fitness comprise most of the reasons why people like cycling to work, at 30% each, while 15% of people prefer bikes because there are no parking problems involved. Those who do it because it is faster than driving and it is free, make up 12 and 13%, respectively.
On the other hand, 40% of those who travel to work by car say it's because it's more comfortable, as opposed to 21% of people who drive because their job is quite far. An equal amount of people drive as they believe it's faster than cycling, or they have to carry items to work. The least important reason for driving to work is because it is safer than cycling, at only 11%.
