The bar chart provide the reasons that motivate adults to study and the pie chart illustrates how the tuition fees should be funded.
Overall, the main purposes for adults to study were the interest in the subjects and gaining qualifications; meanwhile the survey shows that most of the educational costs should be paid by individuals.
As shown by the bar chart, 40% of participants continue to study because of interesting knowledge in the curriculum, compared to 38% for those who want to obtain qualifications, the second highest. Ranked third was recorded in the reason of being helpful for current job, more than 2% in the figures for improving prospects of promotion and enjoying learning/studying each. The percentages of respondents claiming that being able to change jobs and meeting people were the main purposes were reported at 12% and 9% respectively.
Regarding the costs of adult education, survey takers think that near half of the them should be shared by each learner. In particular, individuals should bear 40% of the fees, followed by the figure for the employer, recorded at 35%. However, only a quarter of the share was expected to be afforded by taxpayers.
