The bar charts illustrate the types of jobs that UK graduate and postgraduate students chose instead of working full-time after leaving university in 2008.
It is clearly seen that the number of two types of students chosen to study further is highest in 2008. Meanwhile, voluntary work was the selection with the lowest amount of students in both categories.
For UK graduates, the main career path after finishing the college program was furthering their studies, which accounted for roughly 30,000 students. The figure for students who got part-time jobs was nearly 18,000, followed by the amount of unemployment with more than 16,000 students. However, only 3,500 students decided to engage in charity work, this was one in tenth of the number of students in further study.
Regarding the destinations of UK postgraduates in 2008, the majority of students also determined to study further with 2,725 individuals. Part-time work was the second most sought by students with 2,535. In contrast, the number of students who joined voluntary work was the least, just 345 people. Finally, 1,625 students could not land any jobs after leaving their university.
