The six pie charts reveal the proportion of water consumed by three purposes in six different areas of the world. Overall, it is obvious that the water used for agricultural aim represents the largest percentage in four of these areas including South America, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia, whereas that for industry takes up the greatest pattern in the rest districts.
For Asian and African areas, the most conspicuous thing is that they share the similar figures for agricultural water consumption: South East Asia takes up 81% of its overall water consumption, Africa 84% of that and Central Asia 88% of that. By contrast, the other purposes remain relatively insignificant, with industrial use only accounts 9% in Africa, 7% in both Asian districts. However, the domestic water use in South East Asia (12%) takes a bit more than its industrial use.
As to the rest areas, the largest water used for industrial purpose appears in European nations, taking up more than half of its whole consumption (53%), and it was followed by North America (48%). Besides, these two areas have almost the same domestic figure, accounting 15% and 13% respectively in Europe and North America. In comparison, water used by individuals shows a larger proportion in South American with 19% of all three purposes.
