The chart demonstrates the average temperature and amount of rain in one month in Kolkata from January to February. Overall, the rainy season happens from June to September while the hottest season is from April to June. In addition, May experiences the highest temperature of all whereas July records the largest quantity of precipitation.
To begin with, there is little rain in the beginning of the year, from January to April, which is on average under 50mm. Yet, the amount of water seems to rise sharply from 100mm in May to above 250mm in June until it reaches its peak at nearly 350mm in July. The figure continues to stay high from August to September despite a slight drop. The rainy season is over starting from October with only 150mm, and the figure hits its bottom in December with just around 10mm.
In terms of temperature, the weather seems to get hotter during the months from January to May. In fact, the temperature recorded increases gradually from the lowest position at 20 degrees in January to the highest position at more than 30 degrees in May. However, Kolkata gets cooler from June to December. From 30 degrees recorded in June, the temperature shows a steady downward trend to December, which is slightly more than 20 degrees.
