daily water usage in Americans' homes
The bar chart given shows the data of daily water usage of homes in America in terms of five different purposes. The water consumption is measured in gallon per day and is compared both when with and without the water conservation methods is taken. It is obvious that water conservation methods save large amount of water for Americans. Additionally, water is consumed mostly in flushing toilets, washing clothes and taking showers.
Firstly, it is interesting that whether the conservation technique is used or not, the amount of water consumed for washing dishes, using faucets and other uses remains the same pattern. On the other hand, people in American can save up to 10 gallons a day from 20 gallons to 10 gallons for flushing toilets by taking water conservation methods.
An American use 13 gallons per day for taking a shower and this figure can be reduced to 10 if the water is conserved. Homes in America use over 15 gallons of water a day to wash clothes in a washing machine. With conservation methods, this purpose will only take 12 gallons. Leaks waste about 10 gallons a day but if conservation technique is used, the amount of water consumed can be reduced by 4 and approach 6 gallons per day
As can be seen clearly, water conservation methods help Americans to save a great deal of water while the water supply is becoming in short. It is interesting to notice that people living in America can save up to 20 gallons of water a day if they decide to use the conservation technique.
