The diagram below give information about two road tunnels in one Australian city

The given maps illustrate two different underground tunnel systems in an Australian city.

Overall, it can clearly be seen that there are a number of differences between the two systems, in terms of size, length, cost and time of construction, capacity and the surrounding environment. Another interesting point is that despite lower construction price, Tunnel A took longer time to install but has smaller vehicle capayin comparison with Tunnel B.

It took 5 years (from 1987 to 1992) to build the first tunnel system, which is 25 meters in height and 2.2km in length, while the construction of Tunnel B lasted 2 years shorter with the corresponding size and length being 3.5 meters and 3.6 kn respectively. The price for installation experience the same pattern when expenditure on constructing the latter system was over one billion dollars, twofold higher than that of the former one

Owing to the larger size, the vehicle capacity of the second underground road system consist of six lanes for cars and trucks whereas the first tunnel is four lanes wide. While Tunnel B was a normal underground system, Tunnel A was built underneath a body of water, stone and sand
