Summarize the info by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart compares the spending pattern on alcohol and drugs in five distinct years.
Overall, it is clear that expenditure on alcohol was significantly higher than on drugs, however both had some fluctuations as far as spending on them is concerned.
In 1975 and 1977, approximately 146 billion us dollars were spent on alcohol and then this figure increased by around 40 billion us dollars in 1980, leading the spending to 186 us billion dollars, which was the highest amount among all years and around 84 billion us dollars higher than the maximum on drugs in the same year. After five years, however, it decreased dramatically to 104 billion us dollars and then rose again to 148 billion US dollars in 1992.
Moving on to drugs, which had similar spending pattern though amount was far less than on the alcohol. About 35 and 46 billion us dollars were spent on drugs in 1975 and 1977 respectively. This followed a significant rise to 102 billion us dollars in 1980, but after this it fell down to 65 billion us dollars, a downfall of approximately 37 billion us dollars. As is in the case of alcohol, it went up again in 1998 and reached to 98 billion us dollars.
