The diagram shows information about the process of electricity produced from seawater which is known as Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC).
This system is not only creates electricity but also produces water for drinking therefore there are 2 processes in this system.
The system is located on the surface of seawater and has depth into the sea by 1000 meters. The temperature of water on the surface is 29 degree celsius and water at the bottom is 5 degree celsius. For electricity generated, warm seawater from the surface is changed into water vapour using solar energy from the sun. Saltless water vapour are transferred to evaporation chamber via small holes in the tank before turning the turbine for generating electricity.
After being finished the process of electricity created, salt which remain from evaporation chamber drop via small holes to seawater. This seawater mix with cold seawater at the bottom. Mixed seawater flow around condensing chamber and is wasted at the bottom tube. Water vapour is transferred to condensing chamber and condensed into pure water for drinking.
