The flow chart shows the canning process for fruit.
There are fourteen stages in the fruit canning process from when the fresh fruit is picked to when the canned fruit is distributed. Most stages in the process are done by machine, althought the picking and quality control are done by hand.
First the fruit is picked by hand and transported by truck to the cannery. In the cannery, first it is washed, then it is checked for quality and any bad or poor quality food is removed. Then, the fruit is stored at a cool temperature. Next the fruit is weighed and graded, then it is peeled, cored and sliced. After that, she sliced fruit is put into cans which are then sealed. The canned fruit is cooked and at this stage the cans are also sterilized. After cooking and sterilizing, the cans are labelled and the canned fruit is stored before being dispatched to distributors and other places to be sold.
