The flow chart describes the life cycle of large fish called salmon. The process has three stages, starting with salmon eggs, which are laid in the upper river and finishing with the adult salmon which swim back to the same place. The entire process takes around 10 years to complete.
The first stage is under the upper river which moves slowly, salmon eggs are laid between reeds and small stones. It takes 5 to 6 months to hatch these eggs. After that, baby salmon called "fry",3-5 cm; swims to the lower river which flows fast and stay there for the next four years until they grow to the smolt which has a length of 12-15 cm.
Thereafter, smolt swims to the open sea, where they spend around five years. During this period, the smolt grow to the adult salmons having a length of 70-76 cm. Finally, adult salmons swim back to the upper river to lay eggs and the life cycle starts again.
