As is observed, the ratio in Finland saw a ceiling trend whereas this figure in Sweden had a downward tendency over the same period, and there was also an oscillation in both countries. Despite having a lower rate at the beginning, Finland surpassed Sweden at the end of the period.
The ratio of divorce in Sweden was nearly 45%, about 8% higher than Finland in 2011. The rate rocketed and reached the highest peak over the period in 2012 at almost 50%. Nevertheless, this figure witnessed a slight drop to 47% in 2013 then continued to decline stably to the end of the period, slumped to approximately 45% in 2014 and saw a freefall to around 37% in 2015.
On the contrary, divorce rates in Finland started with a less percentage in 2011 at about 38% and this was followed by a 5% deterioration to around 33% in 2012. After that, the ratio underwent a steady growth for the last part of the period. This figure surged noticeably to just under 40% in 2013, at which point it rose to around 41% in 2014 and remained static for the next year, finally outraced the rate of Sweden.
