Essay topics:

The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant,

The pie charts show how an Australian household uses energy for different purposes and the figure for the greenhouse gas emissions caused by this energy consumption.

Overall, most Australian families use energy for heating but the majority of the greenhouse gas emissions are from water heating. Otherwise, the energy used for cooling as well as the greenhouse gas emissions is not as much as other appliances.

To begin with, Australians use most of their energy for heating and water heating with 42% and 30%, respectively. And there is just 7 percent of total energy use for refrigeration, 4 percent for lighting and 2% for cooling. Furthermore, about 15% of energy is consumed for other appliances.

Next, three-fifths of greenhouse gas emissions result from energy used for water heating and other appliances, while just 15% and 14% of emissions are caused by using energy for heating and refrigeration. Otherwise, a small proportion of greenhouse gas emissions come from consuming energy for cooling and lighting.
