Overall, the two mentioned countries witnessed an increase in expenditure for online apparel. While Japanese people spent more money on shopping clothes online than American people in 1999, these figures of two countries became almost identical as the years went by.
With regards to the USA, about 5 millions of dollars was spent on buying online clothes in 1999. This number fluctuated slightly to about 7 million dollars in 2002 before grew exponentially to 20 million dollars in the last year.
On the other hand, the amount of money that Japanese used for purchase apparel on the internet began with 10 million dollars in 1999 before this number dropped by nearly half and stood at just about 6 million dollars in 2001. For the last two years, Japan saw a dramatically rise in online-clothes expenditure to the same as the one of the USA in 2003.
