The graph below shows average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal between 1967 and 2007.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The illustration depicts the average amount of carbon dioxide one individual could release in four distinct nations in the course of 14 years, starting from 1967.
Overall, the mass amount of emissions are still dominated by the United Kingdom (UK) regardless of its plunge throughout the years. Meanwhile, the opposite trend occurred significantly in Portugal.
Starting with approximately 11 metric tonnes of CO2, this feature in the UK then experienced a downward trend to roughly 8 metric tonnes in 2007. Similarly, before a plummet to below 6 metric tonnes of CO2 in 2007, the number of emissions released by Swedish showed a notable growth to above 10 metric tonnes in the 1977s.
In contrast, despite 4 metric tonnes of CO2 which is half of that in Sweden in the beginning, this data in Italia climbed quickly to around 8 metric tonnes at the end of the period. Likewise, an upward trend also took place in Portugal which increased its CO2 emissions to a tripled amount compared to a 2-metric-tonnes of CO2 in 1967.
