the graph below shows average carbon dioxide emissions per person in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Portugal, and Italy between 1967 and 2007.
A breakdown of changes in the rates of the emissions of carbon dioxide per person in four different countries from 1967 to 2007 is depicted by the line graph. Overall, Italy and Portugal enjoyed an upward trend, since the others decreased.
Initially, from 1967 to 1977, the carbon dioxide emissions in Sweden, Italy, and Portugal increased moderately by around 2 metric tonnes, while United Kingdom plunged slightly to around 11 metric tonnes. In the next following decade, Italy and Portugal improved moderately to 2 metric tonnes, whereas Sweden dropped dramatically to nearly 7 metric tonnes of emissions. Similarly, British saw a slight decline.
It is clear that in the 2 following decades, Italy and Portugal grew markedly to around 8 metric tonnes and just under 6 metric tonnes, respectively. Additionally, Italy was able to surpass the number of carbon dioxide emissions in Sweden in the end of period. However, England had successfully decreased the emissions but still placed in the first rank, with 9 metric tonnes.
