The bar graph represents the changes in population of Asian elephants over the period from 1994 to 2007.

Elephant maximum number was in India, where it reached roughly 10,000 specimina in 1997. After seven years, population number was significantly smaller and there were nearly 7500 elephants in 2004. By contrast, China had the lowest elephant population, which was estimated to be roughly 1000 of specimina in 1997. Then, in 2004, considerably fewer species inhabited China.

Nearly as many elephants as estimated number in 2004 lived in Laos in 1997. Meanwhile, Cambodian elephant population was almost 1300 specimina, and then it slightly increased to 1500 in 2004.

Overall, general trend of elephant population in Asian countries is downward, except Cambogia.
