The bar chart signifies the estimated comparison in the year 1997 and 2004 while evaluating the highest figure for the number of elephant population in some Asian countries.
In general, we can see that in almost mentioned nations, the number of elephants was declined after 5 years except for China and Cambodia.
Although many countries experienced the downward trajectories, the most noticeable were Thailand and Malaysia, where the figures were less than half of those showed in 1997. India remained the nation having the largest population of this mammal, however, its figure dropped sharply from almost 10000 to just 7500 over the said period.
Of particular note is that there was increase in the number of elephants in Cambodia and China. While Cambodia undergone just a slight growth, China’s figure doubled, reaching more than 1000 in 2004. In other countries like Vietnam, Laos,… the elephant populations were considered to stay consistantly stable between 1997 and 2004.
