The graph below shows the differences in wheat exports over three different areas.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.
The given line graph illustrates how much wheat was exported over three different regions, namely Australia, Canada and European Community between 1985 and 1990.
Overall, Canada exported more wheat than Australia and the European Community for most of the period shown. However, while Canada's wheat export fluctuated and Australia's fell, the wheat export from the European Community grew steadily in the given period.
Australian's wheat export increased slightly by 1 million tonnes to 16 million tonnes in 1986, followed by a gradual decline until 1990 when the figure hit the bottom of nearly 10 million tonnes. After declining to 17 million tonnes until 1986, Canada's wheat export saw a surge to a peak of 25 million tonnes in 1988 (doubled the amount of Australia's in the same year). The following 2-year period recorded a sharp decrease to nearly 15 million tonnes in the figure for Canada, after which the figure rose to 19 million tonnes in 1990. Finally, despite fluctuating around 15 million tonnes in the first 2 years, the export quantity in the European Community remained stable at 15 million tonnes until 1988 and then overtook Canada, before soaring to over 20 million tonnes in 1990.
