The given multi-line chart depicts the number of shops that have opened and closed during the period of 2011 to 2018.
Overall, the maximum number of shops that were opened was in the year 2011, while for closures it was 2013.
To commence with year 2011, the number of shops that were opened was higher than closures by a factor of 2000. Furthermore, in case of openings there is a dramatic fall and rise observed in 2012 and 2013, and the rise continues until 2014 and reaches a value of approximately 6000. This is followed by a dip to 4000 in 2015. Up until 2017, the trend is quite stagnant and falls to 3000 in 2018.
The trend in closures has also seen a lot of ups and downs over the 8 years. There is a gradual rise in numbers from 2011 to 2013, marking the highest value ever. The upcoming years have seen a gradual drop and eventually fell to ground in 2015 to a value of less than 1000. Surprisingly, this fall was fallowed by a steep rise to 5000 in 2016 and has remain almost unchanged till 2018.
