The graph depicts the number of closed shops, along with newly opened counterparts in one country over a period of 7 years from 2011 to 2018.
Overall, there was a general downward trend in both the figures for closing and opening. Noticeably, the highest statistic was recorded in the closure case at the starting point of the whole periood, while the reverse reported for opening in the middle of the timeline.
Particularly, regarding cases of closure, starting from the peak at 9,000, the number of shops halved in the following year. It later accelerated to 6,000 in 2014, then dropping to 4,000 in 2015 and flattening off in the next 2 years. At the end of the whole period, the number was recorded roughly at 3,000.
In contrast, in the first year, the statistics for opening were lower than those for the former, as there were about 6,500 shops opened, compared to 9,000 ones closed. The figure subsequently dropped by 500 in the second year, then rose to 7,000 in the third. The number of shops began to decreased again from 2013 to 2015, as about 6,500 shops were opened in 2014, yet in the following year only 500 were in the state of opening. The cases of opening soon recovered, with the statistical data multiplying by ten times in 2016. The number finally ended up almost 5,000 throughout the last three years.
