The graph below shows in percentage terms the changing patterns of domestic access to modern technology in homes in the UK

The graph illustrates information concerning the uses of newest technological facilities in the UK households between 1996 and 2003.

Overall, it is obvious that all figures of four gadgets experienced a sharp growth throughout the whole period. It were CD player and cell phone whose rates showed the highest trends, whereas home computer and the internet saw the lowest utilisation.

From a detailed analysis, it can be seen that there were abour 60% of Britain who had access to CD player in 1996/97, and this percentage increased steadily by 20% in 2002/03. The similar pattern happened to private computer with a gentle rise from around 30% to above 50% during the same time span.

Moreover, it is evident that the proportion of mobile phone used stood at just under 20% at the beginning of the period and then, witnessed some fluctuations before peaking at almost 70% at the end of the time frame. Meanwhile, despite the late start with approximately 10% in 1998/99, the internet usage rocketed to over 40% in the last year.
