The graph below shows the percentage of urban/suburban and rural households in a European country that had Internet access between 1999 and 2004.
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of households that had Internet access in term of two areas: urban/suburban and rural in a European country over the period from 1999 to 2004.
The general overview is that the rural area was always surpassed by the urban/suburban one in the rate of households which connected to the Internet. To specify, after a double from 15% in 1999 to 30% in 2000, the percentage of urban/suburban households which had internet connection went up gradually to 50% in 2002, followed by a slight rise to 55% in 2004.
On the other hand, the rural area witnessed a light increase from 1.5% to 5% in 2000 in the proportion of households that had Internet entrance, before a gradual climb to 15% in 2002. After that, the figure increased dramatically to 35% in 2004. Interestingly, only in 1999 did the urban/suburban area exceed the rural area by ten times in the rate of households which used Internet.
In conclusion, the number of Internet connections in both two areas tended to follow an upward trend.
