The line graph illustrates levels of unemployment in two different countries: the US and Japan from March 1993 to March 1999.
Looking at the line graph, it is immediately obvious that the percentage of unemployment in the US experienced a downward trend while Japan showed an upward trend
The proportion of jobless in the US was 7.0% in March 1993, then it decreased dramatically to about 5.4% in March 1995. The figure saw a slight rise about 5.6% in March 1996. However, in the US experienced a fluctuation in the following 3 years and it dropped to more than 4.0% in March 1999.
On the other hand, unemployment rate in Japan witnessed a significant increase from 2.3% to 3.5% over the period of 3 years starting in March 1993. The figure for people out of work in Japan had some slight rise between March 1997 and 1998. However, it continued to incline to 4.7% in March 1999, being higher than proportion in the US by approximately 1%
