The chart represents the amount of oil was discovered globally in the period between 1950 and 2020.
Generally speaking, there was an upward fluctuation in the world oil discovery in the first four years, before fluctuating downward throughout the last time frame.
As can be seen in the chart, from 1950 to 1965, the figure climbed numerously from 20 to 55 billion barrels. Meanwhile, the highest shift in this period also in the research was recorded from 1955 to 1960 at about 30 billion barrels. The amount of oil discovered, which showed a plunge by 20 billion barrels in 1970, followed by a notably increase to nearly 40 in 1975, submerged to reach 15 in the next 10 years. Subsequently, the world discovered more oil than it had been in 1985 to have approximately 20 billion barrels. In 2000, this figure rose to 15 billion barrels after declining significantly in 1995.
From 2005 to 2020, the world oil discovery hovered under 10 billion barrels and finished the survey with 5 billion barrels.
