This report derives from a line graph which illustrates the registration of domestic as well as abroad students in the Australian universities over a decade.
Overall, during the period (2001-2010) the enrollments of the international students in commencing and total increased significantly. Meanwhile, Australian students in total that are applying to the universities increased dramatically over a 6 year period and remained steady for the rest of the period, while the commencing student numbers fluctuated markedly over the period.
A specific analysis reveals that the total number of students from abroad rose sharply from 20000 to 80000 in number over the decade. Similarly, 400000 inland enrolments were made in 2001 and this number jumped to 600000 in 2007 and remained constant for about 3 years.
With the commencing students, there were just above 10000 foreign learners applied for their higher studies, this number increased drastically to 40000 in 2009, for the next year there was a modest change in the figure. Furthermore, around 180000 Australians enrolled in 2001, this figure rose to around 220000 in the year 2002, the graph line shows remarkable fluctuations after the year 2002 and stood at around 200000 during the year 2010.
