Hoax. Useful or Useless?
Freedom of information in this era make everyone have chances to share his opinions, perspectives to influences the people. Many people used this chance for their own interests or for their community. Not all Information or message that assumed as a news in many kind of media have standard of journalism or a news values. Phenomena like this popular that called “hoax”. Now, from this phenomena, the big question was appear in everywhere – hoax is wrong? Or hoax was designed by some people for their interests.
Some people, its mean on this essay is media company, are not said true for hoax. All of media who want to be a good media have to use standard journalism. One of standard journalism that contradict meaning whit hoax is verification to interviewees about the truth of news. Who want to be a good media, to survive in a hard competition whit other media, one thing have to do is never share news that contain element of hoax.
On the other hand, Professor from University of Indonesia, Rocky Gerung said that hoax was designed or created by government. Behind the design of hoax, he assumed there something interests. But now, what kind of interest? Politic? Politic for people welfare? Otherwise, just for politician, so that can take benefit from that hoax?
Other than that, there was hoax designed, it was destination of hoax. Destination of hoax as always used by manager of destination for protect the destination. For example, the Rinjani mountain. Rinjani mountain is one of famous place in Lombok. One of favorite place for climbing lover. Well, for keep a clean in this area, the manager of Rinjani mountain designed the hoax “who throw away the trash everywhere, not in it place, so he will find a big trouble in his live”
In conclusion, we should be a people who have sensitively news about. We should filter a news that have full of values and standard of journalism. Finally, we have to learn understanding about news and hoax.
