The two tables illustrates the sales of coffee and bananas with Fairtrade labels in 1999 and 2000 which took place in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden. Units are in Euros.
Overall, the rate of selling coffee and bananas significantly increased in almost all the countries with Switzerland having the highest sale of bananas while the UK abounded more in coffee business than other. However, Denmark and Sweden banana transactions declined from 1999 to 2004.
In terms of coffee, the British bought more than others over the next five years as the rate rose dramatically from 1.5 millions of euros to 20 millions of euros. This is followed by Switzerland whose sales grew considerably from 3 million to 6 million. Sweden sales increase was the lowest from 0.8 million to 1 million.
Banana business on the other hand, experienced a tremendous sale in Switzerland with a triple fold increase (15 to 47 million) markedly outnumbering other countries. Furthermore, Sweden and Denmark saw a decline in their sales (1.8 million to 1 million and 2 million to 0.9 million respectively).
