This is an IELTS writing task 1 sample answer essay on the topic of dairy production by the world’s top 3 producers from the real IELTS exam. Summarise information by selecting and reporting main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The presented bar chart compares 4 distinct types of dairy products in terms of their three largest exporting regions in 2012.
Overall, it is evident that EU was the only counterpart that occupied a ranking in all categories. In addition, all values exceeded 700 metric tons.
Turning into detail, in comparisons to EU, which exported above 140 thousand metric tons of milk, the figure for India was slightly lower, with exactly 127 thousand. Nevertheless, in terms of butter, with 4500 metric tons, how much the latter exported dwarfed that of the former by a ratio of more than 2 to 1. Meanwhile, with about 90 thousand and 810 metric tons, respectively, United States ranked third in both milk and butter sector.
Regarding the remaining products, EU came out on top of cheese exports with approximately 7 thousand metric tons, followed by the United States, with nearly 5 thousand. By contrast, Brazil languised in the opposite ends with only 700. Unlike the aforementioned categories, Milk Powder witnessed the dominance of China and New Zealand. While the former exported 1200 metric tons, the latter recorded a value of above 1100, exceeding 770 metric tons exported by EU.
